Level I: Professional Outreach Program Outline

Early Literacy Matters (ELM) is proud to introduce the Professional Outreach Program that will include a series of ten (10) seminars that are designed specifically for Early Childhood Professionals.  Each seminar will address a different topic that will enhance the skills of those in the field of early childhood. The seminars will focus on the following topics:

• Social Services
• Working Together as a TEAM
• Building Self-esteem
• The Brain of a Young Child, The Knowledge of an Adult
• Managing Stress
• Life skills (communication, managing money, healthy living)
• Career Development
• Current Issues in Early Childhood Education
• Approaches to curriculum (Reggio, Montessori, Bank-Street, Create Play, High Scope)
• The World Outside of the Child Care Center

Attendees will earn continuing education units from Hillsborough Community College. The Professional Outreach Program series will total twenty (20) continuing education units.  

These seminars can be offered centered wide to participating ELM cites.  Directors can contact the ELM professional development coordinator to schedule a specific time that meets the needs of the center.  If there will be fewer than 8 attendees collaborating with another ELM site is strongly encouraged.
