To create opportunities that enable three to five-year old   children to be successful when they enter kindergarten

Early Literacy Matters is a coaching model that integrates modeling, observation and feedback between a literacy "coach" and a classroom teacher. The expertise of the teacher and her/his commitment to the program determine the level of coaching intensity: weekly or bi-weekly coaching, or monthly monitoring.

A variety of professional development opportunities are available to eligible   teachers and directors, ranging from periodic two-hour workshops to enrollment in an Associates Degree Program at HCC-Ybor Campus.   In addition to having a presence in over fifty 3-4 year-old center-based classrooms, we also provide family literacy support through several agencies located throughout Hillsborough County. Eighty 3-5 year old classrooms are piloting emergent literacy strategies in two family child care homes.
